* Easy to use, especially for clients * Clean UI * Project templates make new project creation quick and easy * Very fast and responsive support
* Some shortcomings in UI, for example, not enough navigation breadcrumbs * File management could be clearer * Would like to switch to Basecamp 3, but price is too high
At this point, using email to manage project is just idiotic. We did this years ago, but now insist that everything go in Basecamp. Consolidation of messages, tasks and files allows project to run smoothly and efficiently.
What Basecamp does best is at its core: to-do lists. The ability to quickly and easily map out a project from start to finish, in phases, is easily the best feature. The templating feature makes setting up new projects easy, and being able to tweak those templates to suit a new projects needs is very helpful. Assigning dates and users to to-dos is also very simple, and an absolute necessity. The dashboard has improved greatly, and being able to see an overview of projects, lists and to-dos for yourself or other users is also excellent.
Having to use other solutions for things like time-tracking is a bummer. The lack of a core offering for time-tracking each specific to-do is what keeps me from giving Basecamp a 10 out of 10. It's an excellent and useful product, but this is my only real gripe with it.
Project management is made simple with Basecamp. Allowing all users to get an overview of all projects is super useful, and the ranular control over to-dos, assignments and dates is obviously helpful when scheduling and managing complex projects and processes.
Comprehensive home screen that provides an overall picture of the typical facets you would want a high level view: -document uploads -tasks to be completed (with segregation by list if inputted this way) -participants in the project -meeting scheduling -discussions specific to that project I am also very pleased with the app they have created which mimics the functionality of the desktop experience - excellent work here!
Desktop experience when signing in still has a few bugs when you are part of multiple platforms across multiple entities. The solution for now is to right click and open in a new tab - a troubleshooting technique that not all will think of resulting in frustration.
This tool provides an excellent means to delegate outsourced tasks in a way that balances data centralization at the project level while applying data decentralization at the company level. When you add a participant, you add them and thus grant them access to that project's information only. The by-product of this functionality is it provides effective and user friendly security measures - especially for outsourced resources. They only see the information relevant to what they are hired to do.
I like the ability to set up project milestones and to-do lists. I like that I'm able to assign to-do list to specific people on a projects. It helps to eliminate the duplication of efforts by other team members. I also like that I'm able to create projects that allow our clients the ability to collaborate with us without. I like the fact that I can specify who can see what within the project and be able to send messages to only those who need the information.
I don't like the fact that if a team member is added to a project after it's initial set up that you can them to the project, but unless they've been added to individual messages, they don't always have the ability to comment unless an administrator adds them to a thread. Also, when you have a new hire, they're not always able to see projects that pre-date them. It would be nice to customize a way for them to have visibility on legacy items. Additionally, I don't like how Basecamp prioritizes it's list of people/companies when you're creating a new project. I think it would be better if the first company listed is yours and then the rest can appear in alphabetical order.
This makes collaborating with all employees regardless of their location a lot easier. There's one centralized location where files can be shared and dialogue can take place.
Basecamp is dead simple to use and makes our team 1000 times more productive! I love the Progress feature, which quickly keeps me up to date on our projects and what everyone is working on. Projects are easy to set up and collaboration is a breeze. Love that I can manage my projects via the mobile app and always stay up to date on the go. Excellent integration with most all major software vendors and plenty of 3rd party apps. Our management team also enjoys the product, allowing them easy access to quickly view project status and updates. We also have 3 employees on our team that are remote, and Basecamp makes it super simple to collaborate with them as well.
Basecamp needs a better calendaring feature to better manage deadlines. I'd like to see better file integration so at files can be previewed without being downloaded. The new mobile app is much better, but lacks a few features found in the desktop.
Full project mangement for an 8-person marketing team. We've seen awesome benefits in productivity, as well as better collaboration across our entire team.
I love that Basecamp ease of use. The website is clean and easy to navigate. The ability to have discussion and upload files is a great addition to the to-do list function (which is probably what my colleagues and I use the most). The fact that you can set due dates and assign tasks to certain people is a great organizational tool. The fact that all tasks from all projects are synced onto a single calendar is also helpful. It is also very useful to have the ability to add different people to different projects.
The one thing that I wish you could do is view and edit files within Basecamp. Before viewing a file you must actually download it- you can't even see a PDF version. Just adding the PDF preview would be incredibly useful. I have also found instances where I wanted to, for example, add a name to a list in an excel document and I could not do so. I had to download the file, edit it, reupload the file, and delete the old one. This was cumbersome.
Communication, organization, and productivity have all been improved. It is a great way to know what everyone else is doing and to have a calendar of tasks to complete to keep yourself organized and on-track to complete a project.
Accepts large file sizes - much larger than email can handle. Allows the whole team to be on the same page - it's too easy to leave someone off an email thread Nice that you can see conversation view or file view. I really like the condensed conversation view.
I really dislike how hard it can be to find conversations. Things get buried deep down in threads. The same thing happens in email though. The newest version of Basecamp is soooo much better than the old one. Some of my clients are still using the old one. I really like the condensed conversation view.
This is our official delivery space. Provides a record that the deliverable was sent. If someone forgets to include you, or you get added to a project later on, you are able to go read through all the conversations you missed. Basically just ideal record keeping
I like the way that this software keeps conversations organized on projects. It's very easy to follow the course of a conversation to see how projects develops. You get notifications when things are updated.
Depending on your email software, you may not get the alerts when things are updated. If that is the case, you do need to check this on a regular basis.
We used this software to manage 3rd party vendors working on projects for us. It was really helpful so we didn't have to exchange emails (that would get lost) & we could keep a record of our stuff.
We still use the classic version. It excels in ease of use. I love the simplicity of running a project to-do list.
The milestones functionality can be improved in the core package. But of course there are several add ons that can help,
We use Basecamp for managing all development and customer implementations project.
I use about 15 different To Do Lists multiple times a day to keep track of all of my projects.
There isn't really anything that comes to mind that I dislike. It is a great platform.
Solving collaboration issues. The benefits are that you can collaborate with clients and colleagues all on one platform so that you don't have to dig through server files or paper files to find everything you need. Organizes everything for you on an easy to use platform.
I have used Basecamp for years and it's the best project management tool until somehow I use another one which is better. It's intuitive, integrates with Google Docs, is easy to communicate with clients and colleagues and the UI is excellent.
Not much; although I did prefer the old calendar feature to the new one. The old one used to display above the project home screen - now it is in another tab and I fail to use it as much.
I am able to coordinate projects with all my clients and keep a good paper trail. There is nothing more frustrating than handling project management just on email.
You can communicate with a ton of people on the same project. It keeps everything organized
I would like to be able to label prioritized projects a little more.
It allows for a lot of people in our organization to communicate and keep track of things, even when we don't work in the same city.
Basecamp is a really easy to use collaboration tool for small projects. Users immediately understand how to use it, and the simple user-interface actually results in more collaboration / user-activities than other project management tool I have used. It therefore gives you an instant overview of project activities and progress.
It's happens that I miss a specific feature, but it is far more important for me that Basecamp holds on to it simplicity.
I use Basecamp to manage both internal and external projects. It's simplicity makes Basecamp one of my favourite project management tool.
Basecamp provides an easy collaboration space for projects. Creating templates for projects with predefined definitions makes running a project a breeze. Assigning ownership and viewing a shared calendar of due dates helps keep everything on track.
They do one thing, project management. They do it well, but they are extremely limited in scope.
With basecamp I am able to manage projects jointly with multiple clients and internal contact people. It makes time management very simple.
It has been easy to use and has improved the efficiency of collaboration and communication within the work team. The clear layout of tasks, lists and messages has facilitated the organization of complex projects.
can become expensive if many users are added or if additional features are needed.
Basecamp gives me an overview of my projects, facilitates collaboration and communication between team members, which in turn can improve productivity and efficiency in the execution of tasks.
Basecamp has been great for me. The best part is that it's an all-in-one, I have everything from assigned tasks, to messages and calendars at my fingertips. I love how organized I can be thanks to its project management tools. The ease of file sharing and contextualized discussions has greatly improved team collaboration.
if a project becomes too large or complex, the organization can become a bit confusing. And while Basecamp's simplicity is great, it can lack some of the more advanced features.
Basecamp helps me tremendously because it keeps me on top of everything related to my projects in one place. It's like having a command center where I can see the big picture and the specific details.
I liked how you are able to create individual projects and see all notes from everyone in the project.
Notification updates can be delayed in receiving or do not clear even after viewing.
It helped with communication among different departments and companies. We used it for marketing/promotional needs/
The best thing is the way it has categorised the application. A seperate tab for each individual and a seperate tab for work and both together. The notification that frequently remind us about the work.
It's interface in the mobile and as an app isn't that great where as on desktop as a website it works great.
Work and employee tracking
The simplicity of use of the program is pleasant. While other PM softwares are complex and not very userintuitive. Basecamps is simple to use day to day which helps stream line the construction progress.
At this time is there is nothing that stands out that is to dislike about the program.
Basecamp combines muplitple features from other indivual softwares to be able to collaborte, track, schdule, and manage all aspects of constrution throughout the entire process.
The best thing about basecamp is that it can be accessed anywhere, anytime and on any device be it mobile, laptop or PC with its plug-in. There are surely some gaps in the platform but the good part is they can be filled with its integrations and mind me if I tell you there are lots of amazing integrations which makes work a zero hassle.
Basecamp is amongst one of those platforms that offers built-in communication systems so that we stay connected with each other without leaving the platform and we do as well, but the management system of chat is not that great and it lacks some advanced features. The customization feature lacks and needs a quick upgrade for even better usage and performance overall. The ease of customization is not even a luxury, it is a necessity! I hope it will be sorted out soon!
There are some really helpful features that basecamp offers us; for example, client-oriented projects planning and designing, access on all platforms or from any location, its built-in communication feature, file sharing and storing with just drag-and-drop feature. And with everything else, their customer support team deserves the appreciation.
